ROCKWOOL Membrane for roofs is a vapor-proof three-layered water- and wind-proof membrane. The membrane is designed to protect thermal insulation and structures from penetrating damp, wind and also to prevent underroof condensate. ROCKWOOL membrane contributes to removal of moisture vapor from a structure. The membranes are used in structures of thermally insulated inclined roofs/attics, and attic floors on beams.
The membrane is placed over thermal insulation boards with a logo facing up directly belowmetal tile or other roofing material. Boards are outspread horizontally starting with a lower part of roof, with 15 cm overlapping on all sides. The material is placed directly on thermal insulation avoiding costs for additional roof batten between thermal insulation and the membrane to provide another air clearance. The material is fastened to the structures with a construction stapler. When installing, the material must be placed loosely without being stretched. 50 mm high counter batten is padded to the sheets of the membrane to ensure ventilated air gap under the roofing cover. ROCKWOOL insulation tape is glued to the counter batten from underneath in order to seal its anchorage points.
The lower edge of the material must ensure smooth runoff of moisture into the drainage. Those points where the membrane meets weathering slates such as chimney, vents etc must be sealed. In roof valleys and roof ridges of hipped roofs, horizontal sheets of a membrane are placed over the strip preliminarily laid out along the central line of roof valley or roof ridge.
The membranes manufactured by ROCKWOOL ensure retention of heat-protective properties of thermal insulation and structural durability.
