What should be considered when insulating a facade?
Facade insulation plays a decisive role in creating an energy-efficient building and a cozy living environment.
A properly organized thermal insulation system reduces utility costs, as it leads to lower energy consumption for heating and cooling of buildings. Fall is the perfect time of year for insulation work, so if you are planning to insulate your home, I have some very important tips for you.
When planning insulation, it is necessary to carry out all the stages consistently and qualitatively, so as not to cause the facade to collapse or cracks to form.
The first stage:
The surface of the facade should be cleaned of non-solid parts and then primed so that the surface has good adhesion. Also, the perimeter of the building should be bounded by load-bearing profiles.
Second step:
After preparing the surface, it is necessary to use cement glue, which is designed for gluing insulating tiles and has a high adhesion capacity. All this determines the durability of the facade and its long service life.
After the preparatory work, the thermal insulation tiles are cut to the required size and the cement glue is applied to the surface.
It should be borne in mind that:
- The gluing of the thermal insulation tiles should be started from the corners and openings of the building.
- The thermal insulation tiles should be blocked in the inner and outer corners of the building.
- Facade dowels should be installed after a minimum of 24 hours.
In order to increase the impact resistance of the facade and reduce the risk of cracks, it is necessary to reinforce the facade with alkali-resistant glass mesh, which must be completely covered with a mass of cement adhesive.
After the cement glue dries, the uneven surface should be smoothed with medium grit sandpaper, a primer should be applied, and after drying, the facade should be covered with protective decorative plaster.
After the decorative plaster dries, you can proceed to the painting process.
Now you already know the important steps to insulate your home; so, get ahead of winter by insulating your home.
